The Newbury Group is made up of a Principal Partner and a team of independent Consultants.

 

Andrew Watson

Andrew has an MA and became a communications consultant twenty years ago following an earlier career in education, ultimately as head of a large department. He has extensive experience of one-to-one coaching and group facilitation on an international basis across Europe and USA. He works with companies in the chemical and high technology industries as well as several government agencies and Local Authorities. He supports organisations through management change projects, finding solutions to complex problems and taking difficult decisions.
As well as helping clients design, develop and deliver their own communication and development programmes, he also coaches individuals and groups in handling the media.
Andrew is Principal Partner of the Newbury Group.

Lynn Adair

Lynn has an MA in Educational Administration and Institutional Management and has extensive experience in teaching in a range of settings and contexts, including headship. She has been an Independent Consultant for 14 years and currently works as a facilitator, trainer, coach, consultant and researcher with national organisations, local authorities and individual schools.
Lynn has particular expertise in school workforce development and community focused activity, designing and delivering bespoke programmes, for example on leadership, performance management, professional development, supporting organisations in evaluating the impact of their work as well as planning and implementing change initiatives. Lynn is an Associate of the Newbury Group.

Peter Burton

Peter is a personnel, training and development professional with 20 years experience, most recently as manager of a corporate training function serving 7,000 employees. Peter has a BA in Law, an OPP Certificate in psychometric testing - level A and personality testing - Level B (MBTI) and is a McKenna Brean, Business Practitioner NLP. As a consultant he provides a wide range of services, including advice, facilitation, learning events and also the design and introduction of systems and processes that bring about organisational change and improvement. Peter is an Associate of the Newbury Group.

Viv Cole

Viv has a BSc, is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Certificate in Online Learning (CIPD) and Myers Briggs Type Inventory. He is a former training manager from a large accountancy firm and specialises in providing e-learning and training solutions for the professional and financial services sectors. As a qualified accountant, Viv brings extensive commercial expertise from private and public sector organisations to bear in the training environment. He is also an experienced facilitator in business development, career planning, management and marketing skills. Viv is an Associate of the Newbury Group.

Marguerite Howick

Marguerite is an independent education consultant. Her 25 years career as a teacher embraced specialising in learning and behaviour support. During this period she achieved an MA in Psychology of Education and a PhD in Health Education which led to her working for a Local Authority supporting schools: School Improvement; Healthy Schools programmes; and Extended Services. She has specific experience of regional coordination, research projects and sharing effective learning within international networks. She has experience of training a wide variety of personnel and facilitating workshops, in addition to more bespoke support. Marguerite works in association with the Newbury Group.

Rod King

Rod is an independent educational consultant; previously, he was Head of the Royal County of Berkshire Inspection and Advisory Services.  He has been a headteacher, Lead Inspector for Ofsted and a Lead Tutor for the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). He holds a first class honours degree and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI). Over the last eight years, Rod has been involved nationally on the implementation of government initiatives, including: Every Child Matters, Personalisation, Extended Services, School Improvement Planning, Workforce Development and Reform working with senior representatives of schools and a variety of statutory and voluntary agencies. He has focused on developing those leadership characteristics required to secure sustainable improvements in highly complex environments. Rod is Principal Consultant at Kingsway Education Services Ltd and works in association with the Newbury Group.

Angela Massey

Angela's expertise lies in delivering personal and organisational change, operating at the highest levels, both within FTSE250 companies, such as WH Smith, Nestle and Punch Taverns, and at the heart of education. Her specialisms are in building bespoke and inspiring competency frameworks, creating transformational leadership programmes and developing HR capability to raise employee performance during periods of major change. She has an honours degree in Linguistics, an MBA in retailing and is a qualified practitioner of NLP, MBTI and WSA (Work Style Analyser). Angela is an Associate of the Newbury Group.

Adrian Priddle

Adrian has a BSc, is a Chartered Accountant and has Level A Occupational Testing (psychometric testing first level). His experience is primarily in professional services within the UK and he works with staff approaching initial management responsibility through to partners in accountancy firms. Adrian has been responsible for the design and delivery of management development and assessment centres aimed at developing marketing, sales and communication competencies in high performers. He also designs and manages e-learning material tailored to meet clients´ needs. Adrian is an Associate of the Newbury Group.

Jamie Rowland

Jamie is a management trainer and facilitator with a particular interest in the human dynamics of leadership and talent management. Jamie's own career after graduating has given him direct working experience in the army, recruitment, professional services, and support services. He has a portfolio of national and international clients including professional and financial services, manufacturing, retail, and food and drink.  He typically works with individuals and teams to manage the transition from doer to leader through bespoke management development programmes and coaching based workshops.  He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Training & HRM and is a BPS recognised user of Psychometric testing instruments. Jamie is an Associate of the Newbury Group

Richard Straker

Richard´s professional broadcasting career spans thirty-two years. Initially he specialised in news and current affairs before becoming studio producer for BBC radio´s flagship news programmes The World At One and PM. In 1985 he became the BBC Media & Interview Techniques Consultant for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, training Ambassadors, Ministers, High Commissioners and other Heads of Mission for all world postings. Richard has now added to this media coaching by including amongst others, national and international industry board members, Government Ministers, RTE (Ireland), Lawyers, Authors and Head Teachers. His core skill areas are interviewer and interviewee techniques, presentation, scripting and speech training and public appearance confidence building. Richard is an Associate of the Newbury Group.

Carol Walker

Carol is an independent educational consultant who taught in a range of schools before becoming a local authority advisor for physical education. She then moved into workforce development in Children's Services, working with schools and other agencies working with children and young people. Carol has worked with local authorities, groups of schools and individual schools on the development of local and national initiatives with particular emphasis on performance management, middle leadership and performance development. She is a facilitator on Leading from the Middle (LftM) and Leadership Pathways (LP) and a lead facilitator for LP. Carol is also an accredited trainer for the Safer Recruitment training. Carol is an Associate of the Newbury Group.

Viv Woodcock

Viv Woodcock has a BA in Organisational Analysis, is a Chartered Fellow of CIPD and a Founder Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management. She has extensive experience of learning and development work through her posts in local authorities, ultimately as an Assistant Director, and now as an independent facilitator. Viv works with clients to produce practical solutions to complex organisational problems. She is an experienced and expert action learning set or self managed learning set facilitator and also an executive coach to senior managers. Viv is an Associate of the Newbury Group.
